Connect groups are short term spiritual growth opportunities to:

Gather in community, Explore faith, Make new friends, and Study God’s Word


Evangel Connect groups run from 4-12 weeks on a quarterly basis. We offer connect groups at a wide variety of times. 

You do not need to be a member to participate

  • Women's Study Group:  "The power of a woman's word"

    Hosts: Cynda Tischer & Kay Hess

    Date/Time: Thurs., Aug. 22 to Sept. 26 from 10-11:15am in room 221

    Your words have the power to change the course of a day or the course of a life! This study group for women will use the DVD The Power of a Women’s Words by Sharon Jaynes, author and inspirational speaker. To sign up, call the church office

    This is for anyone curious about membership at Evangel UMC. Participants will be invited (but not required) to join the church as Professing Members after taking the class. We’ll cover our spiritual journeys so far, the commitment to follow Jesus (being a “professing member”), the “Methodist” and “Wesleyan” way of discipleship, the history and overview of the Evangel congregation, spiritual giftings, areas of service and anything participants wish to discuss! Come if you are considering joining Evangel, or if you just want to learn more.

    Date/Time: Wed., Sept. 25 from 1:30-3:00pm in the Fireside Room

    This session will provide comfort, support and resources to those who’ve experienced the loss of a loved one. 

  • yours faithfully fall women's retreat

    Nov. 1-3, 2024 at Koronis Ministries in Paynesville, MN

    Theme: Captivated. 

    Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” We are often held captive by different things in our lives, but there is no place like the presence of God to find freedom. Join us as we delve into being captivated by the One Who created us, knows us, and loves us like nothing else here on earth. Register soon in order to receive your devotional materials in preparation for the retreat.

    Date/Tme: Fri., Nov. 22 from 1:30-3:30pm in the Fireside Room

    Are you dreading the holidays, knowing that everything has changed and that happy memories from past years can’t be recreated? For those grieving loved ones, you will learn how to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, tips for surviving social events, and how to discover hope for your future.

    Frost and decorate cookies to deliver to our homebound church family members. There will be a short devotion time and treats to enjoy!

  • Parent Cafe

    Relaxed meeting of parents to talk about life issues (school, parenting, community, etc.) We will be exploring a Bible study of love languages.

    Drop in each week to a Bible Reading Class that is synced with the Pastor David's Read the Bible in a Year message each week.

    This is intended for Middle school and senior high youth. 

    Snacks, networking, games, worship and study on how to grow as a Christian youth.

  • Confirmation

    Hosts: Pastors David Werner & Susie O'Connell

    Date/Time: Wednesdays at 6:15 PM in Room 224

    Two-year class offering a basic and fundamental understanding of the Christian faith. This understanding will help them prepare to confirm for themselves the vows to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and to commit their lives to following Him as a disciple.

    Geared for students entering grades 7 - 9.

  • The jesus bible study series

    Hosts: Reanna & Brandon Elizade

    Date/Time: Sundays from 9:30-10:15am in room 128

    This 25-session series follows how Jesus plays a key role in each and every story told throughout the Bible. This deeper dive into Scripture will help us see Jesus in each of our readings through the Bible this year as well as help you discover God’s purpose and plan for your life in his great story. The f ive series are 1. Beginnings: The Story of How All Things Were Created by God and for God. 2. Revolt: The Story of God’s Pursuit of Imperfect People. 3. People: The Story of God’s Promise. 4. Savior: The Story of God's Rescue Plan. 5. Church: The Story of Jesus on Display to the World.

  • Evangel Tech Team

    The Tech Team is the technical heart of worship at Evangel. There are opportunities for people to work the cameras during a service, run the slides for the big screens during the service, or run the sound during the service. Don't worry if you don't know how to do these things. We will train you if you think it is something you would like to do.

    The Hostpitality Team encourages, promotes, and builds hospitality. We will explore Bible verses related to welcoming, greeting, caring, and sharing. We will put our learning into action by helping the hospitality mission grow at Evangel. We meet on one Sunday morning a month at 11:#0 AM. Our next meetings are on September 24, October 22, November 19, and December 17. You may attend one or more meetings, as your schedule permits. All are welcome!   • Bible Story time

    Evangel loves all kids! Every Wednesday Evangel staff and volunteers offer a Wednesday morning ‘Sunday School” for children of the “Good News” day care Center. Singing, Prayer, Bible stories and crafts are included along with a year end concert for families that draws about 100 people!
